He is one of the most versatile champions in the history of Australian motorsport and also one of the nicest guys in the business. Bondy won in everything from rallies to touring cars and hillclimbing, and is now happily retired with his wife Robyn at their Hunters Hill home in Sydney.

1. What makes you laugh?

A good joke.

2. What’s on your playlist?

Anything but doof-doof and rap.

3. What was the last movie you saw?

Conclave. The one about electing a new pope, which they are likely to be doing for real fairly soon.

4. One road, one car, one passenger?

The Great Ocean Road, an Audi R8, and my wife Robyn.

5. Your dream car - to park and admire?

Any Ferrari sports car. They are for looking at - that's probably the best thing about them.

6. Your greatest motorsport success?

The 1969 Bathurst race (which he won). Because it started my Holden Dealer Team connection and led to me becoming a professional racing car driver.

7. Your greatest failure?

Golf. When I was younger I was really good at golfing, and I was even looking at taking it up professionally before motorsport came along. Most people play it because it is hard, and it never gets any easier.

8. Your one regret?

There are no real regrests. Probably not going to Europe to do rallying. Hannu Mikkola once told me I would be in the top six over there. It was the same with Frank Matich, when I drove his McLaren Formula 5000 car in the Tasman Series. I stayed and became a Holden driver, but that wasn't so bad.

9. What is your guilty pleasure?

Probably ice cream. The flavour doesn't matter, because you can put other things with it. I'll have some ice cream after most meals at night, nothing riciulalous but something nice.

10. Which actor would play you in the movie of your life?

That one is easy – Rowan Atkinson. At least he drove a Mini, and he owned a McLaren F1 as well, so he's into cars.
