DOWNSHIFTING: Kevin Fitzsimons

Everyone in the Supercars pitlane knows 'Kev' from Dunlop. He is always there, always helpful, always finds a smile. "I haven't missed a race since Sandown in 1990," he says. That's 38 years.
1. What makes you laugh?
The Drew Carey Show. I can relate to pretty much everything in that show.
2. What’s on your playlist?
Everything from AC/DC to Foo Fighters. Old-school rock, like Led Zeppelin. Everyone should go and see the movie, Becoming Led Zeppelin, which is on now.
3. What was the last movie you saw?
The Bourne Supremacy. I’m interested in the whole series of the Bourne movies.
4. One road, one car, one passenger?
The Adelaide Hills, A9X Torana, Peter Brock – we had a lot of unfinished conversations.
5. Your dream car - to park and admire?
A Torana A9X.
6. Your greatest motorsport success?
The one I took the most enjoyment from was with Glenn Seton when he won the Touring Car Championship in 1997. There were only seven guys full-time and I was the ring-in as the Bridgestone tyre man. That gave me the most pleasure.
7. Your greatest failure?
The 2017 supercars tyre. It had the potential to be good, but I wasn’t able to get the teams over the line. It was a big disappointment that it didn’t work.
8. Your one regret?
That I didn’t take up the opportunity to work with the Bridgestone Formula One program when it rolled out for 1998.
9. What is your guilty pleasure?
A Coconut Rough chocolate bar. It comes from my childhood.
10. Which actor would play you in the movie of your life?
Jim Carey. Because he’s just never serious and life’s not meant to be too serious.
