FERRARI AND ASTON OUT OF FORMULA ONE
There is no sign of Ferrari or Aston Martin in the newest grand prix grid.
It's the miniature racing world created by Hot Wheels.
Toy maker, Mattel, has renewed its commitment to the F1 world in a new collaboration set to include a set of official scale replicas in 1:64 scale, as well as a pair of dedicated race tracks.
There will also be two kinds of cars – one for fun and the other, with far more detail, for collectors of miniature replicas.
There is no detail yet of the roll-out for Australia but, based on news from the UK, there will be cheaper Singles models and the Premium players, priced from just over $5.00 at the bottom end and around $20.00 for the full effect.
The Premium cars have a metal body and chassis, Pirelli-branded tyres and a miniature driver at the wheel.
The Premium liveries are much more detailed.
The tracks are the Sprint Race Circuit and the Grand Prix Race Circuit, both with a Hot Wheels version of DRS in the real world to give cars a performance boost.
There is no official explanation for the missing Ferrari and Aston Martin cars, but it's likely to be a clash of marketing rights – and the prospect of a Hot Wheels alliance could change things at some time in the future.
