Grand prix testing begins today.

The clock starts running in Bahrain on the first of the all-in test days as Formula One teams prepare for the first race of season 2025 at Albert Park.

Several teams used their 'filming day' allowance of 200 kilometres for an initial shakedown in Bahrain ahead of the test, including Red Bull Racing with the RB21 and Liam Lawson and Alpine with its A525 and Jack Doohan.

"We know what last year’s limitations were, so it is important that we assess the pace over the next few days and see if we have improved," said Max Verstappen after his opening laps.

"We hope to get a lot of mileage on the car and lots of runs in to understand where we can find time. At the moment I don’t have targets for the season as we don’t know how competitive we are."

Coverage of testing will be on Fox Sports, Channel 506, from 1750 Eastern today, as well as through Kayo and Foxtel Go. It will run through to Friday with the full F1 broadcast team from Sky Sports.

Jack Doohan had a new experience with the A525 as he faces the pressure-cooker world of F1 as a race driver for the first time.

“It is my first time driving a shakedown day so a great experience, especially driving on track with the filming vehicles," Doohan said.

"I know Pierre and I are really excited for Wednesday and beginning pre-season testing. It will be three busy days where we have many things to run through in order to develop the A525 ahead of the season start.”

The latest Mercedes-AMG contender, officially known as the Mercedes-AMG F1 W16 E PERFORMANCE, also completed a 'filming day' with both Kimi Antonelli and George Russell driving.

"I've been working hard over the winter to be as ready as I can possibly be and now, I can't wait to get started," said Antonelli.

Apart from the track action, Aston Martin has also fully previewed its latest F1 contender, the AMR25.

"The AMR25 is an evolution of its predecessor, with changes aimed at making the car more driveable and improving overall driver confidence. The car has large aero surface changes in comparison to the AMR24, with the most notable changes made to the front and rear wings, sidepods, engine cover and floor," said Aston Martin.

For Australia's F1 fans, there will be live coverage from Bahrain from the late afternoon today, then tomorrow and Friday.

There are two on-track sessions planned for each day, with all teams intending to run both of their drivers. However, the roster could be split by days or sessions, depending on teams.
