Repco Takes The Lead
REPCO has pole position in Supercars for the next five years.
The aftermarket motoring company is making its biggest motorsport commitment since it backed Jack Brabham all the way to world championships in Formula One with a new deal to become the naming-rights partner of Supercars.
Repco’s rapid rise to the top of Supercars began with backing for the championship winning Shell V-Power team of Scott McLaughlin, then escalated to ownership of the classic Bathurst 1000, before the announcement of the big prize this morning. It is also the billboard backer of the Repco SuperSprint at The Bend, the final lead-up to The Great Race this year.
The new deal was made easier by the collapse of Virgin Australia, which continues as the airline partner for Supercars, but is part of an all-new package that will take the Supercars championship into 2021 and beyond.

The new Supercars broadcast deal, with the 7 Network and Foxtel, should be announced next week and will be followed by confirmation of the 2021 calendar after Bathurst.
Supercars has big plans to leverage the Repco deal, which will be a pivot point as the company looks to become the leading automotive parts and accessories retailer in Australia and New Zealand.
“Repco has invested considerably in our sport and to carry their name as naming rights partner into a new chapter for our sport is great news for both parties,” says Supercars CEO, Sean Seamer.
“Repco is an iconic international motorsport brand with a proud history, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership with them.”
Although now foreign owned, Repco was founded in Victoria in 1922 and first moved into motorsport in 1947. It’s most famous for its partnership with Sir Jack Brabham in the 1960s but also backed Frank Matich in sports car racing and was a key backer for Formula 5000 single-seater racing.
“We have a rich history with the sport and, together with the Repco Bathurst 1000, this is our most exhilarating step yet,” says Wayne Bryant, the executive general manager of Repco Australia.
“The Supercars family have shown in recent times how well they have all pulled together for the betterment of the sport and to provide race fans with a superior level of sports entertainment. We are really proud to be given the opportunity to become part of that family and work with them.”
The Repco deal comes at the end of the five-year Virgin Australia tie-up, which is recognised by Seamer.
“Supercars remains committed to supporting Virgin Australia as the official airline of the series and we look forward to working with them in the future,” he says.
